What is a new creation?

By a new creation, we mean a new kind of person without any history outside of Christ. This means that when the first person Adam, when he was created he was not like this new creation even before his fall. Example, Adam did not have the Holy Spirit like we have him as a new creation; Adam was not seated at the right hand of the Father like we are in Christ. This shows us that God made another type of person in Christ, when he made us Sons of God. Just as he was making a new thing when he created Adam, so with us in Christ, He created yet another masterpiece, this is what it means when it says a new creation. We are not being taken back to Adam before his fall when we accept Christ, but God makes us another type of person, who has taken the form of the second Adam, who is Christ glorified (1Corinthians 15:45). We are made to look like Christ after his resurrection. Christ was like Adam before his fall, he was changed at the cross, and he became like Adam after he sinned and all of us who were born from Adam because he took our sin upon himself. He rose from the dead on the third day as the first born of the new creation. Now we who receive him are changed into this kind of new creation, who are recreated in the likeness of Jesus Christ after his resurrection (1John 4:17).

A New creation also includes the passing away of the old person, before we are born again. This is why this verse says, ‘The old has gone, the new has come!’ This tells us that God no longer has any knowledge of what we did before we accepted Jesus Christ. All he sees when he looks at us is his recreated Sons and Daughters through the second birth. Regardless of how a person was before he was saved. Once he believes, and confesses Jesus Christ as his Lord and savoir, all the old things that he did are removed in Gods mind.

Example: If a person was ill mannered before he accepted Jesus, maybe he was a thief, an adulterer and all you can think of. Once that person is born again, he receives a new nature in his spirit, the sin nature that caused him to steal and commit adultery is removed from him and he is given the God kind of nature. All this happens once he receives the Lord Jesus Christ. After accepting Jesus Christ, God does not see him as a thief or adulterer when he looks at him, but he sees a son who has just been born. He has just been birthed in the kingdom of God. God does not see a forgiven thief when he looks at him. Actually, God sees that person as though he hasn’t stolen at all. God does not just forgive him but he also gives him the God kind of Nature. According to God, that person has never had any other life outside of Christ. God works with him from the new life upwards. Even if a person got HIV because of his previous dirty life before being born again, that HIV does not have a right to live in his body anymore, because that old sinful person no longer exists (Galatians 2:20), a new righteous person has been birthed. If that person can understand this truth, believe it and confess it with his mouth and takes actions of faith on it, then the HIV will disappear from his blood. That person now has power over sin, satan and the kingdom of darkness and all the results of sin, which are: sickness, poverty, death, failure etc.
