What does it mean to be born again? (John 3: 3-8)

The Lord Jesus made it clear that unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. He says that unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3: 3-8). Now, what does it mean to be born of water and the Spirit? When we speak of water and the Spirit, we speak of being born of the word of God and the Holy Spirit. Water in this verse does not speak of baptism but it is symbolic of the word of God (Ephesians 5:26 and 27). The bible tells us time and again that we are born of the word of God (1Peter 1:23) and the Holy Spirit. This happens in this way: we hear the word of God, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ, when we accept it and believe it in our hearts and confess the Lordship of Christ in our lives, The Holy Spirit gives birth to us in our spirits. He does this by removing the sin nature that was in our spirits before we received Christ, then He gives us a nature that is exactly like God’s nature in our human spirits. This work happens immediately when we confess Jesus as Lord and savior according to Romans 10; 9.

Further explanation of the new birth:

Before we accept the Lord Jesus Christ in to our lives, we are identified with Adam from our first birth. When our parents gave birth to us physically, we are born with a sin nature in our spirits. With our first birth, we are likened or identified to Adam in his sin and its Judgment because we were still connected with the first man, Adam. (Romans 5:14-16)(Ephesians 2:1-4). When we are born physically during our first birth from our earthly parents, our spirits are dead because of the sin nature that we are born with. Spiritual death means being separated from God. But when we accept the Lord Jesus Christ in to our lives, we are born again in our spirits. This means that we are brought to life in our spirits, which means that we are reconciled to God because of accepting the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives. Once we have believed in the Lord Jesus and confessed him with our mouths as Lord and savior, we are given the nature that is like that of God in our spirits, and we are put right with God through Jesus Christ and we become the very sons and daughters of God indeed (Galatians 3:26, John 1:10-14). When we are born again, we are likened or identified to the Lord Jesus Christ in his resurrection and his life. We are made Sons of God indeed through this second birth. ‘The word born again, saved, justified, made righteous mean one and the same thing. When we become children of God through the new birth, we get saved from God`s wrath and judgment and we are delivered from sin and its penalty, which include death, sickness, poverty, curses etc.

PRAYER OF BEING BORN AGAIN (OR BEING SAVED)

If you have not yet accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, and you would love to accept him now, then pray the prayer that I have written below at the end of this teaching. Confess it with your mouth, believing in your heart and then you will be born again. All you need to do is to believe in God the right way. The right way of believing in God, is by coming to God through Jesus Christ only, with the help of the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. Acts 4: 12 says, salvation is found through him (Jesus Christ) alone, in the entire world, there is no one else whom God has chosen who can save us. 1Timothy 2: 5 says, for there is only one God, and there is only one man who brings God and people together, that is, the man Christ Jesus). If you have other beliefs, you have to forsake them all. If you believe in ancestral worship or idols or you pray to or worship the dead, you have to turn from those beliefs before you can truly be born again (Deuteronomy 18:9-14says, when you come into to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, don’t follow the disgusting practices of the nations that are there. Don’t sacrifice your children in the fires of your altars, and don’t let your people practice divination or look for omens or use spells or charms and don’t let them consult the spirits of the dead. The Lord your God hates people who do these disgusting things, and that is why he is driving those nations out of the land as you advance. Be completely faithful to the Lord). These beliefs are considered as abominations in the sight of God. You must turn away from other beliefs that you had in other people, whether they are alive or dead. Believe in God through the Lord Jesus Christ only. Believe in the Trinity only, which is (God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Understand that you come to God, through Jesus Christ only, by the help of The Holy Spirit.

If you believe in this way which I have explained, then you can pray this prayer that I have written below: Romans 10:9 it reads as follows, if you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that has God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Now we are going to pray this prayer basing ourselves on this verse. Speak this prayer with your own mouth, say:

Dear God, I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is Lord; I believe that he died on the cross because of my sins and that he was raised from the dead on the third day. I believe that he is the only way, the truth and the life. I receive him into my life as my Lord and savior. Thank you Father because I am now born again, I am saved, I have become your child according to your word, I have eternal life in my spirit now and my name is written in your book of life.
